Grandmothers Of The Light
Grandmothers of the Light is a non-profit organization (TAX ID # 20-5738652) formed for the benefit of children in adverse conditions including poverty, incarcerated parents, illness and abuse. These gals are INCREDIBLE, and they are really focused on helping the women and children at VSPW and CCWF.
Prison Fellowship Ministries
A nationwide and international organization that partners with local churches to help prisoners, ex-prisoners, and their families. They have many resources available. They have published an excellent little book that is available online, titled
"Making It: A Prison Survival Guide"
. You may want to send this to your loved one in prison!
Legal Services for Prisoners With Children
LSPC is active in a variety of projects, and works to get better conditions for pregnant inmates, elderly inmates, and especially for inmates with children.
Northern Valley Catholic Social Service
Mentoring programs for children living in Shasta, Tehama, Butte and Glenn counties who have an incarcerated parent.
Angel Tree Program
A wonderful program that helps inmates give their children Christmas presents!
Get On The Bus Program
A growing Mother's Day program that takes children to visit their moms at the Women's prisons. Last year it was on Friday May 11th 2007. The group has also started a FATHER'S DAY Get On The Bus program, too! This program is run by the Diocese of San Diego.
