The Inmate Family Council at Valley State Prison for Women was established on
February 28, 2002
Our Mission
To establish effective lines of communication between the institution, inmate families and significant relationships.
To promote better understanding regarding the correctional programming that affects family members and significant relationships.
To promote better understanding by the institution of the effect that correctional programming has on family and significant relations.
The “Council” is comprised of a cross section of family members and friends of inmates at VSPW. You may become a member of the Inmate Family Council if you are an adult who has a meaningful family or community relationship with an inmate at the VSPW state prison.
The Inmate Family Council consists of Ten (10) voting members along with five (5) alternates. The list of applicants is comprised of volunteers who have submitted an application, and their final selection is based on qualifications as submitted.
Every effort has been made to select a cross section of the ten (10) applicants representing the respective facilities as well as the five (5) alternatives.
